FanRail.Com is dedicated to crawling and indexing the millions upon millions of railroad related
websites, directories, and information on the world wide web to help anyone interested in finding
anything related to railroading do just that without wading through mounds of garbage.
There were many reasons we decided to compile the FanRail railroad search database. One of those
reasons was that we felt (as railroaders ourselves), that the majority of Internet search engines
just simply didn't care so much for overall quality as they did and/or do care about simply indexing
as much web content as possible.
In the beginning, this may have seemed liked a nice idea, and it all started with the right ideas in
mind, but as time went on, and the Internet grew into the monster it is today, it's simply to difficult
to get the quality search results that you'd like to receive using a standard type search engine.
Many of the major search engines have now started to realize just what a mess it has become to take on
the task of trying to index everything on the web, and now many of them are spending hundreds of millions
of dollars trying to clean up their databases to give their users a better quality search experience.
Unfortunately what has happened here, is that now many of the search results that you find in other major
search engines may be of better quality when it comes to more commercial oriented websites, but it's getting
more and more difficult to find the "little" guy websites that really made the world wide web such a great
experience just a few short years ago.
And to top it off, if you want to see yourself rated in the top 100 of just about any major search engine,
it's going to take tons of money, a couple of SEO firms, and a few insiders in search engine optimization
to get your website listed anywhere near the top!

We understand that most model railroaders, railfans, and even most of the commercial railroad related websites
and webmasters simply do not have the time, money or drive it takes to get their sites listed somewhere that's
going to do them any good at all in the major search engines, so we created FanRail.Com for the little guys and
gals of railroading, and to give them a place to be seen.
Some of the greatest information and websites containing railroading history are never seen in the "BIG"
search engines, and for a railroader and railfan, that's simply a crime!

For the reasons listed above, we started our mission of indexing and crawling every railroad related website
we could and can find, and in time we will house the worlds largest railroad related database of information
available anywhere on the web, and it's all free of charge to our users.
We don't discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, railroad company relation or
any other factors, and we feel that if the railroad related content is quality and is free for the general
publics viewing, then we feel that it's in the best interest to get it into the hands (eyes) of the
railroading public.
